Sometimes I feel like a motherless Child
We've all heard the popular tune "Sometimes I feel like a motherless Child"
I took the liberty to interview a few troubled teen for the purpose of preparing for an up and coming Doc Series this fall....Each child I interviewed came from different walks of life....yet their stories were rooted in the same emphasis , they each made the statement. That at times they felt as motherless children. Proximity parenting is the appropriate word. Parents worked hard to provide things but never provided time the one very detail 15 year old Asia made clear this is what lacked in her two parent home. Now a juvinille probated by the state for misguided behavior . Bad company had know corrupted her character. Speaking with her I discovered the entire group in which she associated herself had a common bond. Parents whom had no personal time devoted to these children individually as well as collectively. One Young man imparticular pulled upon the strings of my heart. Eldest brother of 3siblings a single mother whom he was very proud of her re-entering education obtaining her degree to financially provide a more stable environment for her children. But the young man countenance grew heavy as he shared with me how his mother's search for love. Would always leave Detron with the inevitable task of baby sitting. In her quest for happiness. Detron shared with me, various men whom have moved in or out. And how these relationships became her priorities while the care for the children became a more burdensome obligation. It was ironic in comparison how one Single Mom was obviously after what the others had. A home of both mother and father. Yet both environments gave birth to the same delimma faced in so many homes in America. Proximity parenting, we are there but not there. We work hard over compensating with mete things. While the children are missing out on our influence , but being inspired by Beyonce , Love and Hip hop , MTV and looking for validation rather through displays of positive or negative behavior. My heart grew heavy frim the statement. Sometimes I feel like a motherless child. As parents we have been blessed with the ultimate gift. The overseers of another's life. We have been intrusted to raise the World Changers of tomorrow . Let us take this responsibility with honor and honor our children with our greatest gift. Our love and our time
